The Youth Strategy Fund is intended to foster employment among youth and encourage their social, cultural and economic involvement in the community.

In nine years, more than 4,700 Quebec youth have taken advantage of The Youth Strategy Fund and brought to life their dream of becoming an entrepreneur. They have shared this dream with more than 14,600 people by ensuring them a job.

Amount

Amounts range between $ 5000 ans $ 15 000 per contractor *Possibility of $ 20 000 per partner if more than one entrepreneur per company (Maximum loan allowed for 2 entrepreneurs)

Project status

Projects may be a start-up, take over or an expansion of a business.

Use of funds

Funding may be used for capital expenditures (land, buildings, equipment, and inventory), operating funds or a down payment.

Criteria for eligibility

• Be an entrepreneur aged 18 to 39 inclusive (maximum 2 per business);
• Have a project to start-up, purchase, modernize or expand a business;
• Demonstrate entrepreneurial qualities and managerial capabilities;
• Demonstrate the project’s outlook for profitability as well as the capacity of the business to repay.

Terms for financing

• First 2 years at a rate of 0%
• Years 3, 4 and 5, at Desjardins’ commercial prime rate of 2%
• Amortisation over a maximum period of 5 years
• Possibility of prepayment without penalty
• Possibility of a moratorium on capital for a maximum of 6 months
